Sergio Aguero demands £2.5million payout from Barcelona three years after Man City exit

Sergio Aguero was forced to retire from professional football in December 2021 after suffering a heart issue during his ill-fated spell with Barcelona

Former Manchester City star Sergio Aguero is reportedly seeking a £2.5 million payout from Barcelona - three years after his unexpected retirement from football.

The Argentine legend switched to the Spanish heavyweights in the summer of 2021 following his free transfer from Etihad Stadium.

However, in a brief stint with Barcelona, limited to merely five appearances and a single goal, Aguero's career suddenly stopped after he experienced chest pains during a game against Alaves—an incident later attributed to an arrhythmia. After extensive medical reviews, Aguero declared his retirement at a press conference.

Now, it has emerged that Aguero is pursuing considerable compensation from Barcelona. As detailed by the Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, which also disseminated insights into Barcelona's financial projections for 2023/24, Aguero is eyeing a €3 million payout (approximately £2.5 million) as part of a settlement for ending his employment early.
